Bindigirl can be considered a new media artist due to her exploration of issues in identity. Prema Murthy represents herself as an Indian pin-up girl in a critique of the internet pornography industry. When first entering her website the visitor is greeted with the quote, "Women are hardly known in their true light, though they may love men, or become indifferent toward them; may give them delight,or abandon them; or extract from them all the wealth that they possess." Murthy's piece questions the hypocrisy of traditions and technology, especially from being raised in a culture where women are expected to cover up most of their bodies.
